A gap analysis is a tool for learning the strengths and weaknesses of an organization, product, or offered services. Gap analysis looks at two dimenstions to identify differences between a desired and actual state of affairs. The statistics show you what you are doing right, as well as your weak spots. Recognizing which of your gap analysis categories is the lowest in score and making it your priority to focus on improving it. A gap analysis may also be referred to as a needs analysis, needs assessment or need-gap analysis. There are a variety of gap analysis tools on the market, and the particular tool a company uses depends on its specific set of target objectives.
